Our client is seeking a highly experienced Government Affairs Manager to represent their interests in the public policy arena. This role involves building relationships with government officials, monitoring legislation, and advocating for policies that benefit the organisation.
The successful candidate will have a strong business acumen, proven capability to execute and deliver in a matrix organisation, and a solid understanding of how political decisions influence Vietnam's public policy.
- More than 10 years of experience with multinational companies

What you'll do:
As a Government Affairs Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's interactions with the public policy arena. Your responsibilities will include developing a comprehensive government strategy, advising on compliance matters, building relationships with key stakeholders, monitoring legislative developments, identifying potential risks to the company from governmental policies, formulating local government relations programs, identifying subsidy opportunities, representing the company at various events, and drafting position papers on relevant policy issues.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive government strategy and engagement plan
- Advise and proactively collaborate with leadership team on compliance of business operations with local and global laws and regulations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key government officials and external industry related associations
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that impact our industry
- Identify issues that could potentially affect the company through analysis of governmental policies, regulations, and legislation
- Formulate and execute successful local government relations programs
- Identify and consolidate local subsidy and incentive opportunities
- Represent the company at government hearings, meetings, and industry events
- Draft and submit position papers, comments, and testimony on relevant policy issues
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this Government Affairs Manager role will bring significant experience working with multinational companies in Vietnam. You should have at least 3 years' experience in government affairs or public affairs roles. Your knowledge of the local Government hierarchy will be crucial to your success in this role. You should also have an understanding of international trade, manufacturing or economic issues. A strong business acumen is essential for this role. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to execute and deliver within a matrix organisation while maintaining high standards of business ethics and integrity. Fluency in English is required.
- Significant experience with multinational companies in Vietnam including at least 3 years in government affairs/public affairs
- Experience in government advocacy/lobbying
- Knowledge about the local Government hierarchy
- Knowledge of international trade, manufacturing and/or economic issues
- Strong business acumen with previous experience of working for related industries preferred
- Proven capability to execute and deliver in a matrix organization with strong business ethics and integrity
- Solid grasp of how political decisions influence Vietnam public policy
- Fluency in English
