Our client is seeking a highly experienced General Counsel to serve as the chief legal advisor, overseeing all legal matters, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring regulatory compliance for their business. This role plays an integral part in the company's expansion plans, providing legal and strategic leadership to facilitate growth, including acquisitions, new project development, and international ventures. What you'll do:
As General Counsel, your role will be pivotal in shaping the future direction of our client's business. You will provide strategic guidance on expansion projects, including market entry strategies, international partnerships, new acquisitions, and the development of additional geothermal and renewable energy assets. Your expertise will be crucial in managing external counsels and streamlining legal costs. You will also lead legal oversight of expansion efforts, including joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, project financing, and other strategic partnerships. Your ability to collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to drive complex transactions will be highly valued.
- Serve as a key member of the executive committee, contributing to strategic business decisions.
- Provide legal and business advice on expansion projects.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and board of directors on legal risks.
- Develop and implement legal frameworks that support the company’s growth plans.
- Manage external counsels, formalizing pool of legal service providers.
- Lead legal oversight of expansion efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to drive complex transactions.
- Play a critical role in high-level decision-making regarding expansion strategies.
- Guide executive leadership through legal implications of expanding into new geographies or sectors.
- Ensure the company’s legal compliance with evolving energy regulations and environmental standards.
What you bring:
As General Counsel, you bring a wealth of experience in law practice with a specific focus on energy, infrastructure or renewable energy sectors. Your proven track record in handling complex corporate transactions such as M&A, project finance, bond and loan financing is essential for this role. Your strong leadership skills coupled with your ability to work at an executive level will be key in providing strategic business and legal advice to senior leadership teams. Your excellent communication and negotiation skills will be crucial in dealing with senior stakeholders, external partners, and regulators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and qualification to practice law in Indonesia or other Common Law jurisdictions.
- At least 18-25 years of legal experience, with significant experience in the energy, infrastructure, or renewable energy sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in handling complex corporate transactions, M&A, project finance, bond and loan financing, and joint ventures.
- Strong leadership experience.
- Experience working at an executive level.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of Indonesia’s regulatory landscape.
